HorsetailPreparation and Dosage:

Horsetail Tea is prepared by pouring boiled water over 2-3 grams of the herb in a pot, boiling for 5 minutes, then leave to simmer on a very low heat for another 10-15 minutes, and strain. Drink throughout the day between meals.

Horsetail Infusion is made by adding 1.5 grams of the herb to 1 cup of boiling water. Steep for 30-40 minutes, strain and drink.

Dosages:

Internal: 6 grams per day

Herbal Infusion: 4oz, 3x a day

Tincture(1:5) 1-4ml 3x a day

External Compresses: 10grams/herb per 1 liter water per day.

*Horsetail should not be used by pregnant or nursing women. Nor on children.

*Limit the amount of overall diuretics to avoid potassium loss, or make up for it by taking extra potassium

* Excessive use of licorice should be avoided in conjunction with horsetail, as it may lead to a loss of potassium and cardiac toxicity
