nut mylkAnimal milk is OUT. Nut Mylk is IN!

I mean, c’mon! Haven’t you heard the real deal? The word on the street?! That there’s all kinds of puss, blood and antibiotics in animal milk. Uh, last I heard that was not good for your health. Not to mention the fact that we mammals are the only one’s who drink the milk of another mammal. Now I think that unless you are gonna go cuddle up with a mamma cow, goat, or sheep – and suck on her udders you just shouldn’t be drinking her milk!!!

The great news is I am here to teach you how to make delicious Nut Mylks!

What the $%*&?!!! is a nut Mylk – you ask? Why, it is a delicious drink made from (preferably) raw organic nuts that have been soaked overnight OR raw nut butters that you had no idea were so versatile!

Let’s Get Started!

Equipment:

1 high-speed blender

1 mesh nut mylk bag, Or cheese cloth to strain the nuts

1 bowl, or wide mouth mason jar in which to squeeze the liquid heavenly delight

Ingredients:

1 cup raw nuts (I use almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, hazelnuts), soaked 4 hours or more (I soak ’em overnight – it’s like waking up to a lotta goodness!)

4 cups of good water, filtered, from a spring – you get the picture!

1/4 cup of raw honey or agave nectar

A pinch of celtic or himalayan (pink) sea salt

*optional* 1/4 of a vanilla pod

In your supercharged blender – blend the nuts and the water for about 2 minutes. Make sure everything is beautifully blended. Strain your mylk through the nut mylk bag (or cheesecloth) into your jar or bowl. Rinse your blender, and then pour the mylk and the remaining ingredients into the blender. Combine and blend to perfection.

*NOTE* If you haven’t soaked any nuts overnight, or ran out and are craving a nut mylk or nut mylk based smoothie – you can use 2 tablespoons of raw nut butter and just combine that with the rest of the ingredients in your blender for 30-45 seconds!

Nut Mylk is delicious by itself, with homemade granola’s, and as a part of some incredible smoothies that I LIVE for!
